About The Scratching Post

The Scratching Post is a family-run cat cafe in the heart of Bovey Tracey, Devon.

The business is owned by Angie Davidson Moore, with company directors Angie Davidson Moore and Tim Moore, and their son Oskar and partner Morgan working full time as part of the family team. We are also supported by valued team members Paige and Tilly, who help us care for both our guests and our cats.

Our aim is simple: to create a warm, friendly space where people can relax, enjoy good food and drink, and spend time with cats in a calm, safe, and carefully managed environment.

Our ethos

Cats first. Visitors cared for. Atmosphere always.

Everything we do is built around the wellbeing of our cats and the experience of our visitors. We want The Scratching Post to feel cosy, welcoming, and full of charm — somewhere local people and visitors alike will enjoy returning to again and again.

We also believe in giving something back, and we aim to support local charities and people in need through regular donations.

At The Scratching Post, it is all about creating a calm, cosy environment where guests can unwind and enjoy being around cats in a safe, respectful, and carefully managed setting. For some people, that means a quiet coffee break with a cat snoozing nearby. For others, it is a chance to meet friends, enjoy a special outing, or spend time with cats if they are not able to have pets at home themselves.

The cats choose

A cat cafe is not quite like an ordinary cafe, because our cats are very much at the heart of the experience. Their comfort and wellbeing always come first. Some may come over to say hello, some may choose to play, and some may prefer to relax in their favourite spot and simply watch the world go by.

House rules help

That is why we ask all visitors to follow our house rules, including hand hygiene guidance and wearing the overshoes provided in the cat area. These simple steps help us keep the space clean, calm, and comfortable for both our cats and our guests.
