We kindly ask guests to book in advance wherever possible. Booking ahead helps us manage the cafe calmly and comfortably for both our visitors and our cats.
Visit fees
Visit fees apply, with no separate fee for an eligible Essential Companion.
The standard visit fees apply whether you book in advance or visit as a walk-in. An eligible Essential Companion attending in a support role is not charged a separate visit fee.
The Scratching Post is generally for visitors aged 11 and upwards during standard cafe sessions. Young people aged 11-16 may visit without an adult if they can follow the cafe rules independently. Children under 11 may attend only designated child-friendly sessions, such as Kitten Club, with a responsible adult. Staff reserve the right to contact a parent/carer and end a visit early if behaviour places the cats, the young person, staff or other visitors at risk.
Kitten Club sessions are completely separate to main cafe sessions.

Your visit fee supports our cats.
Your visit fee helps support the care and wellbeing of our cats, including feeding, toileting and litter care, cleaning, routine health checks, vaccinations, monthly worming, flea treatment, protection against other parasites, and neutering or spaying.
As a family-run business, we also believe in giving something back and aim to support local charities and people in need through regular donations.
Age information
The Scratching Post Kitten Club
Although the main cafe sessions are for age 11 and upwards, for younger cat lovers we will also be running The Scratching Post Kitten Club for children aged 10 and under. These special sessions will take place at selected times, with smaller numbers in the cafe and a gentler pace to help make the experience enjoyable for both the children and our cats.
Each child attending Kitten Club must have their responsible adult present, supervising throughout the session.
Book Kitten Club
Please book a Kitten Club ticket for every person attending. Children aged 10 and under pay the Kitten Club fee, while adults and young visitors aged 11–16 pay their usual full visit fee. This helps us keep session numbers calm, safe, and comfortable for our cats and visitors.
A gentle reminder
The cats’ comfort and wellbeing always come first.
We ask all guests to interact with them gently, calmly, and respectfully, and to follow staff guidance at all times.
As with any animal setting, cats may occasionally scratch or nip if they feel startled, overstimulated, or simply caught up in playful behaviour. Grabbing with paws and scratching can sometimes be part of normal cat play, especially in younger or more energetic cats. If a scratch or bite does occur, we recommend following current NHS advice on animal bites and scratches.
